B. H. BOOK CLUB | FIRST UP AMERICANAH

Hey! HAPPY NEW YEAR! ...Still working on getting all of my INTENTIONS FOR 2015 down on paper, but in the mean time…. I'm diving into checking this one off my bucket list and Im hoping you will join me.

Snagged this This photo from my instagram. Don't check the date on that - find out how long i've been staring (lovingly) at this book on my nightstand.  I'll admit, I'm only a couple pages in.

I'm a great collector of books, well not great but, I love to snag new interesting books. Finding the time to sit down and read them is another story. But I've reworked my schedule for the new year and am setting intentions to get in bed with this book at 9:30 (after putting the kids to bed and working on GGBC for a bit).  I'll be full of energy and ready to dive in right?! zzzzzzz:-/

2015 INTENTIONS - MORE GOOD READS

B. H. BOOK CLUB - woot! I'm not completely certain how this will work in its entirety, but what I do know is I'm in love with the premise of this book, and that I'd love for you to read along with me and have a few folks to discuss it with.

After 30 days we will surely take over some restaurant for breakfast and talk about kids, work, Netflix ques, and this AWESOME BOOK.

Originally published in 2013, AMERICANAH, a novel by CHIMAMANDA NGOZI ADICHIE is a story about race, love, and identity.  Its come highly recommended by a few smart mamas I know and was one of NPR's Good Reads (among many other accolades).

And in even more exciting news the cast is set and movie to be released this year - LUPITA!! Gah!! I love a good book turned movie. And another reason to get together. I bet you won't join me at the theater!

We can handle that right? Since munchkin has her own book club its only right, mama gets her own?

Okay so lets do it? Email me your email address or leave it in the comments (click the mail icon up top) if you're in! We'll do a google hang out and meet up with the in town folks!

ARE YOU IN?!.

SUMMER BOOKS : NANTUCKET SISTERS

Set on the beaches of Nantucket, Nancy Thayer's Nantucket Sisters (out June 17) is a coming of age story about a friendship and love. I was lucky enough to receive a preview copy in my swag bag from the Lands End Getaway Tour event and took it along to the beach last week. I LOVED IT. It is the perfect beach/summer read. I tend to like a little fiction over the summer months. This book has me day dreaming of scooting off to the beaches of Nantucket (now on my before 40 bucket list) with this Vera Bradley Duffel and these sleek and comfy Birkenstocks in tow. After I finished it I loaned it to a friend who finished it in three days, on its way to the next pal.

Looking for more books to scour over the summer. Any recommendations?

xx,
Bunnie

READING ROOM {A BOOK CLUB FOR THE LITTLES}

I meant to tell you about this. A few months back I started up a little book club for the munchkin and her pals. Mostly so  I  she could have a way to keep in touch with some good friends she made in Mommy and Me and in Preschool that she wont get to see much since they are all in different schools now. But also to add to her little library, continue to grow her love for learning, and move into chapter books in a fun and special way.

I was super excited when Rachel at The Seed Factory agreed to host our most recent gathering. We got to know the owner and this magical store while I was pregnant with the munchkin - its where we registered and got a lot of AMAZING things for the nursery...

Its a beautiful space. Stylish Clothes, Modern Toys, children's BOOKS (and so much more).

The moms pitch in with treats (thanks Cathy for the YUM iced coffee).. and it is SO MUCH FUN...  The  moms  girls  catch up over snacks, art, and books! So far we've introduced The Magic Tree House Series, Nancy Clancy (big kid Fancy Nancy), and now The Critter Club Series. The best part is when we reveal the newest book and read a chapter or two to get them all excited about what's in store..

Oh yes, and about the name Giggle Girls (trademark pending)... One day I picked the munchkin up from preschool and her teacher told me that she and another of her classmates had a really fun day. They were just giggling together ALL DAY. So much that she started calling them the giggle girls that day. It made me smile. Nothing like giggling with your favorite pal right?

I considered changing it to something like Brave Girls, or Adventure Girls.. less trivial you know.. but at this age.. you should be able to enjoy what being a kid is all about.. learning new things and having fun!

Do you have any suggestions for chapter books for early readers? Better yet, what was your favorite book as a child?

xx,
Bunnie
