slightly neurotic.

yesterday:

not sure where to start here, but i've made some decisions today. or at least had a revelation. i've been super stressing about how much and when this little boy eats and sleeps. i'm one of those people who pumps and nurses because i have to know exactly how much food he's getting. i did the same with my daughter. except now i'm worried he's getting too much (instead of not enough). i can remember rocking my daughter (now almost 4 years) to sleep in her rocking chair and instead of gazing lovingly into her angelic eyes.. counting the number of rocks it took to get her to fall asleep.  and i'v e recently realized that now i have been spending every waking hour trying to get him to go back to sleep.

he's cranky cause he's hungry (and i'm hungry) and i'm driving myself nuts trying to make my two month old, eat at 7,10, and 1. and take 3 2 1/2 hour naps (like the book says), and writing it all down to to confirm what a failure i am. staring at myself in the mirror with bags under my eyes (and his) after wasting a whole day.  i remember tales of one mom, who actually took all naps with the child laying on top of her (for however long she would sleep) because thats the only way the child would stay asleep.

i cant do it.

so moving forward ive decided instead try to figure out how to keep him (and me) happy while he is awake. i'm not throwing my schedule out of the window completely. just maybe not being so super obsessive (possessed) about it. I will feed him when he's hungry. let him sleep when he is sleepy (and falls alseep).

and the moment i let go. he slept for 5 hours straight.  no, last night. really he did!!
now after hour three, i was standing there with a mirror under his nose until he woke up. but thats another story for another day:-)

look at those cheeks! yes, he is eating me out of house and home...

i'm so excited!!

Look what I found!! !!
So I'll admit, it is a bit much.  My one splurge when we found out the little munchkin was on the way was my Orbit baby stroller. I saw Nicole Richie pushing little Harlow in one and I had to have it. What?!!! Dont judge me.
Being the hipsters that we are:-) It only seamed right to have an actual space ship to transport our precious cargo around town.  Its a car seat. Its a stroller. It travels well..
I convinced myself that I NEEDED it!
And it has served us well...

At some point I'd like to add another munchkin to our little family and I wanted to see if this little investment of ours would allow for and expansion to our tribe.
And looky looky!

How cute will little miss munchkin look riding this Orbit Side Kick Stroller Board?! Not sure how safe it is, but it sure looks cool? And hubby who occassionally whips out his skate board?! has a reason to get her a skateboard of her own!

resolved.

for 2010

1. Just getting into the blogosphere, I have been SO INSPIRED to continue to tap into my crafty side.  My goal is to work on something new every week. Thankfully my little munchkin is very serious about her 730 bedtime and usually sleeps 12 hours. so when i turn out her little light, I will turn my little light ON...

2. Me gusta Leer (translation: i love to read!) I started a book club at the beginning of 2009 called the "sewing circle". that fizzled out around october  :-(
Initially it was so that I could make sure that I read good books and got to see some of my grown up friends on a regular basis.  I'm going to try again.. and maybe make some new friends!

3. So while at my parents over the break I ran into the 20 year old sister of a friend whose makeup was absolutely flawless (shout out to Paige!). She reminded me of myself in my younger year.  Since becoming a mommy I have since been satisfied with just getting some vaseline on my lips and saving the real make up for church or date night. Today I broke out my trusty make-up bag choc full of NARS, and Bobbi Brown, and MAC and felt all gitty inside... SHE'S BACK!

4.  I was pretty embarrassed a couple of weeks ago when my BFF asked me if I was sure that I wasnt expecting again.. I most certainly am not.. I've since been looking for jogging strollers on craigslist.. one way or another.. the flab has got to go.

5. Speaking things into existence... write a children's book (a series), become an event planner for the kiddies, side gig as a blogger of sorts...somebody.. anybody?

and just because I hate blogs without pix.. here are some that make me happy...

random day dreaming...

loves it!
i saw these in person at anthropologie while in jax visiting the folks... way TOO cute for words.. they come in infant size 6 - 12 months too!! do they come in my size?

ugg-like
I know that UGGs are so 5 or more years ago.. and I am SUPER late.. but I just thought they were SO UGG-ly.. but since nie nie mentioned that she cleans house among other things in hers because they are so SUPER COMFY.. i must admit I've been doing a little stalking.. at any rate a friend of mine traveling to Copenhagen for the holiday hipped me to these  super cute and half the price Australian EMU hip boots.. why not?

intimate
also resolving to stop wearing nursing tanks and my hairy pants (so my husband calls them) to bed. these from anthropologie are fancy, but not overly so and affordable..

playtime
also one of my fav's is the selection at land of nod. in a perfect world all of the munckin's furniture would blend in with the look and feel of the grown up stuff. this Ecotots play table and chairs has an eco-friendly and stylish spin on it. cute for a playroom, family room or bedroom.

okay now off to the sofa with hubby for chai tea, and a movie in front of the fire - yum!

oh christmas tree, oh christmas tree

After the little munchkin's nap on Sunday we went to Big John's in midtown and picked out a tree! unfortunately it's still sitting in the corner undecorated surrounded by the boxes of decorations that hubby brought up stairs as soon as we got home... I LOVE CHRISTMAS!! and get SO excited at the thought of decorating for the holidays... but forget how much WORK it is to get that momentum going..
once we get the lights on we'll be home free!

after we picked up the tree we headed over to the HIGH to hang out for a few and take some pics for fun.  here are a few shots of our little adventure.

So there is this big tree with the beautiful yellow leaves right out front of the high.. does anyone know what kind of tree this is?!

The  holidays are already so much fun with the little munchkin around.. last year this time.. we were just happy to prop her up on a pillow... and now she can sing, and dance, and who knows what things we'll get into!! We can't wait!

so thankful!

The family came up for Thanksgiving!! I was eagerly anticipating thier arrival.. Oh  how I miss my family so!! Sister brought her boo too;-) Uncle Sonny even came down from Harrisburg, PA. I was determined to pull off the perfect hosted family dinner and I must say, besides the fact that dinner was two hours late.. it went off without a hitch!

We had Stuffing (my mom's recipe) and collard greens (my dad's recipe) and green beans w/ potatoes (i cooked every last drop of nutrients out of them and they were delicious)!  None of these are the real pix of the food b/c I was too busy cooking to make pix... but I promise my food looked just as yummy!

This is the one and only time i will reveal my "secret" recipe for "Bunnie's Smoked Gouda Macaroni and Cheese." I decided that this will be "my" dish that I will pass down for generations for the next 300 years... again with the bourgeois southern remixes. i dont use the bread or spinach, but i do sprinkle a little bread crumbs on top and i u use a can of evaporated milk and whole milk instead of skim milk. My dad kept asking about the smoked "boudie". And how he was going to have to get my mom to find some..

This Good Eats Roast Turkey is Alton Brown's recipe..  The package said it was 16 - 20 lbs..  I was just happy it wasnt still clucking. I did my own brining and everything!! It actually turned out to be pretty juicy! I like JUICY!

And hubby's favorite is my fresh Cranberry Sauce.
No one in my family had ever even had a fresh cranberry. They loved it.. And I ate enough of it that I had to put my belt in the last hole:-(

My sister made many sweet potato pies, but mommy made her SWEET POTATO PIE WITH SPLENDA.  And it actually turned out pretty good.

I am SO Thankful for my family, and the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon me and my love one's ~ Happy Thanksgiving!!

my cutie pie:-) muwah!

love is in the air...

we are loving us some sesame street these days.. hubby, baby, and me are all humming and singing old and new tunes.. now in their 40th year they are continuing to stay current and fresh without losing their foundation of learning fundamentals.. below are some of the reasons i'm seriously crushing on sesame street these days...

i think i'm in love with fiest..
who knew hubby was sitting on her last two albums and hadnt shared. this is actually from last year.. but since munchkin turned one i've started to let her watch sesame street... i think i like it more than she does...

my peeps!
loves me some first lady.. stylish, smart, and a mommy to boot:-)

go murray!
so this young chap has his own theme music that is a remix of mary had a little lamb.. instead "murray" has a little lamb.. who wears a little bow.. GO MURRAY! they go to a different school and learn about karate, and gymnastics, and gardening, and river dancing... loves it!

a little something for mommy..
they are really cracking me up with the spoofs and parodies of the shows we all know and love.. one of my favs (is that a ciggy in elmo's hand?):

Elmo Draper

{a touch of retro}

missing you boo..
he was always one of my favs (i'm a sucker for a butterfly collar)... not sure what happened to him but i dont think he got his invite in the mail for the 40th birthday party:-( he has yet to make an appearance..

cool little shift dress tippa dress at magpie lovely

and the cutest of all:

so today i was trying to take munckin to the oakhurst community garden when i pulled up and realized it really is just that.. a community garden.. but folks were talking about it like it was a mini botanical gardens? so then i tried to get the gps to take me to the nearest park which ended up being oakhurst park which is really just a brick structure in the middle of the square so next on the list was mckoy park which is around the corner but as i got out of the car a strange man jumped out of the woods combing his hair, so we got back in the car and drove home..

these are some pix i took of munchkin playing in the car.. i thought we'd just play in the yard instead...

those eyes!!

that laugh!!

loves it!
