THE WORD FOR 2014

A little back ground:
Because I'm a very special person, on our drive back from Florida (visiting my family for the holidays) I declared that my word for 2014 would be "SESH". Short for session:-) You know like, "My gal pal and I just finished up a little brainstorming sesh! Cute right? Well.. whatever.. I thought it was hilarious (especially after binge watching the final season of East Bound and Down with H a few weeks back)…

So over the last few years my New Years Resolutions efforts have morphed into more of just an opportunity to reflect and aspire. To make my best effort to start fresh and live the best life I can -  with a clean slate on a new year.

I've got some goals in mind, but I decided this year to have a WORD for the year.  Something to think about daily to give myself that extra nudge.  Not pressure - but a reminder of sorts. We put enough pressure on ourselves, especially as women and even more so as moms for perfection.. But I needed a word that I could focus on just to help me GSD (click through to see what thats all about - oh and get the TShirt).  One that I can call on when I feel my confidence wavering. When I start to compare my journey to someone else's. When times get tough and these little people are working my last nerve not cooperating. When I'm super tired because these little people will not stay in their own beds wondering how in the heck I think I'm really going to accomplish that big goal:

WWBD - WHAT WOULD BEYONCE DO?!

Ha! just kidding. Also considered WWMD or WWOD (Oprah and Martha - duh!!)

The word currently echoing in my head is  ROAR!!

No really.  That mama lion handles her business. Whatever that business is. At home, in those streets, she does it. With style and grace. So I'm ready to OWN whatever comes my way. Just like the LIONESS (and Katy Perry). Ready and willing to pounce on every opportunity and every challenge.

Thats what I'm prepared to do this year.

I can and I will.

What's your WORD FOR THE YEAR?

p.s. I'm still using "sesh" as much as possible.

Happy First Weekend of 2013!!

To be honest I really wasn't feeling 2013. The end of 2012 was a bit crappy for me. I had a bit of turmoil with a very good friend (and some family), this baby weight was showing no signs of going any where. Crazily I decided to embark upon sleep training (help. me. please.) while these munchkins have been coughing and wheezing for about six weeks straight. My hair was a horrible mess, which I need to have clean and shiny when the new year starts and I was struggling to get all of my laundry done by on December 31st (old wives tale - dont judge me).
On New Years Eve, I was startled into awakeness (is not a word) at 1159 dashed down the stairs to make sure the dryer full of laundry wasnt still running, ran back up the stairs just almost in time to kiss my husband (who was asleep) and my babies (in their beds) at midnight. Not how I wanted to start this year!!

But despite these (little) things. I've been pressing forward. Collecting items to make this year more organized, more productive, more fulfilling.
A new journal (so my memoirs will be easier to write:-); pretty little totes to organize my bag; a new planner just for blogging.  a few good books, oh and An iPhone -finally!! (so I can succumb to my inner mammarrazi tendencies)..

Planning and Preparing because guess what - I'm still here. And am very thankful that I have the ability to start again.

And I will.

Tonight, I will set my alarm and at 1159  and I will start again. I will close my eyes, and pray my New Year (a new beginning)in. I will thank God for his many blessings, for health and strength, and life.

Things are already looking up. I reconnected with my friend over wine (a reward for losing 2.5  lbs last week). A sitter magically showed up at my house yesterday and I dashed out to get a fresh blow out. And the babies are on the mend.

I have a sneaky feeling, the best is yet to come.

God is Good (and I know the Secret).

My Top 3 Intentions for 2013

Pay More Attention to Me
Im a better wife, mom, and person when I take care of myself. Beginning with some fitness goals.
Ive started by just cutting my sugar and carb intake and drinking more water. The immediate results are an indication that i had gone off the deep end with the beignets.

Room by Room, Make My House a Home
I'm going to start small. The laundry room. What?! I spend a lot of time in there!! Totally inspired by this little space.

Make a Plan and Make it Happen!
My Event Planning business, blogging aspirations, family goals, spiritual growth. And just being as true to myself and authentic as I can possibly be. Good things come to those who wait work their little bums off.

Keep me in your prayers please. What are you planning for this year?

Jan 1, 2010

resolved.

for 2010

1. Just getting into the blogosphere, I have been SO INSPIRED to continue to tap into my crafty side.  My goal is to work on something new every week. Thankfully my little munchkin is very serious about her 730 bedtime and usually sleeps 12 hours. so when i turn out her little light, I will turn my little light ON...

2. Me gusta Leer (translation: i love to read!) I started a book club at the beginning of 2009 called the "sewing circle". that fizzled out around october  :-(
Initially it was so that I could make sure that I read good books and got to see some of my grown up friends on a regular basis.  I'm going to try again.. and maybe make some new friends!

3. So while at my parents over the break I ran into the 20 year old sister of a friend whose makeup was absolutely flawless (shout out to Paige!). She reminded me of myself in my younger year.  Since becoming a mommy I have since been satisfied with just getting some vaseline on my lips and saving the real make up for church or date night. Today I broke out my trusty make-up bag choc full of NARS, and Bobbi Brown, and MAC and felt all gitty inside... SHE'S BACK!

4.  I was pretty embarrassed a couple of weeks ago when my BFF asked me if I was sure that I wasnt expecting again.. I most certainly am not.. I've since been looking for jogging strollers on craigslist.. one way or another.. the flab has got to go.

5. Speaking things into existence... write a children's book (a series), become an event planner for the kiddies, side gig as a blogger of sorts...somebody.. anybody?

and just because I hate blogs without pix.. here are some that make me happy...

random day dreaming...

loves it!
i saw these in person at anthropologie while in jax visiting the folks... way TOO cute for words.. they come in infant size 6 - 12 months too!! do they come in my size?

ugg-like
I know that UGGs are so 5 or more years ago.. and I am SUPER late.. but I just thought they were SO UGG-ly.. but since nie nie mentioned that she cleans house among other things in hers because they are so SUPER COMFY.. i must admit I've been doing a little stalking.. at any rate a friend of mine traveling to Copenhagen for the holiday hipped me to these  super cute and half the price Australian EMU hip boots.. why not?

intimate
also resolving to stop wearing nursing tanks and my hairy pants (so my husband calls them) to bed. these from anthropologie are fancy, but not overly so and affordable..

playtime
also one of my fav's is the selection at land of nod. in a perfect world all of the munckin's furniture would blend in with the look and feel of the grown up stuff. this Ecotots play table and chairs has an eco-friendly and stylish spin on it. cute for a playroom, family room or bedroom.

okay now off to the sofa with hubby for chai tea, and a movie in front of the fire - yum!

happy 2010!!

it's a family tradition of mine to pray the new year in. so at 1159pm instead of counting down the seconds.. we close our eyes and count down the blessings. i have so much to be thankful for. a wonderful husband and home. a beautiful baby girl. my health and strength. and a steadfast relationship with Christ whom without we would be nothing.
our prayer for 2010 is to strive to live our best lives. to be the best spouse, parent, daughter/son, Christian, Disciple,  and to acknowledge the Lord in all that we do so that He may direct our path in this life.

may God bless you in more ways than you can imagine...

happy new year!
