pooped...

the title of this post was supposed to be, "SATURDAYS ROCK!!!"

i was super excited today to blog about how much i love saturday mornings around our little household... but now i'm feeling just a little pooped. the little munchkin had a meltdown before bedtime.. and sometimes that takes the wind out of my sails just a little bit..

now i'm ready for some warm frothy beverage and snuggling up on the couch.. i'll be asleep within the hour:-)

at any rate.. i was a busy little shutterbug today, so i'll give this post a shot.. it'll be good to get it all out...

i forgot to show you what we did with all of the broken crayons for daddy's Valentines Day present from the little munchkin...

so we usually hang out in our pj's for a bit watching a little sesame street, listening to some music (this morning it was d'angelo).. and catching up on some reading of something or another...

daddy with his morning news and coffee..
he has a bit of an attention problem.. hence the actual paper and the laptop..

my munchkin is quite an artist!
can you see the fluidity and depth in this original work or art?

hubby and i used to hang out at the big book store and rummage through the magazines for a couple of hours over coffee on saturdays even before the little munchkin came..
i promise we always put them back where we found them before leaving.
now the little munchkin shares our love for saturdays at the book store...
oh.. we read Green Eggs and Ham today.. in honor of Dr. Seuss's 106th birthday last week..

a couple of the munchkins little pals joined us for the festivities...

at any rate,

on the way home we picked up some potting soil (and a sledge hammer?) to get ready for some spring planting... i'm giving it another shot this year.. i'll be working on a container garden for the back deck.. i only got one tomato last year.. i'm new at this so i'll be channeling my inner martha...

a sledge hammer? something is really wrong with this man...

p.s.
i neglected to mention the loads of laundry, dishes, stinky diapers and continuous sweeping, and slaving over a hot stove.. it ruins the fantasy..

it's a wonderful life..

no really.. it is:-)

the sewing circus book club

i've been a bad blogger this past week or so. it's been a whirlwind of activity.. quite more than i'm accustomed to all at once...

at any rate...

one of the highlights was our first book club meeting of the year.. i actually started this book club last year after the munchkin was born and i decided to stay at home with her for a bit.. it was my way of keeping up with some great friends that i might not get to see regularly otherwise...  i got to read great books and have great conversation with some of the most wonderful ladies i know...

there are some original members but mostly new.. a few were missing but promised to catch up with us next time:-)

so we met here on saturday morning and had a great breakfast and discussed our first book...

personally, i was not as entertained as i would have like to have been by the book. however, it was quite insightful and informative... basically a cynics take on the institution of marraige.
her research on the history of, western views, and that of other cultures..
with a goal of convincing herself that marraige to her can be a good thing..
even the second time around.
we gave it a collective 3.5 out of 5.

and now for the ladies:-)  they are all SO DYNAMIC!! I want to be like each and every one of them some day...

in a word:

 charming.

generous.

 thoughtful.

 smart.

classic.

 best all around.

soulful.

and one of my best pals in the whole wide world even flew in from jax to kick us off! she is the best house guest ever.. she also picked the next book:

looking forward to reading this one.. she picked it because she thought the cover was beautiful.. i totally agree...

this is my friend mr. strawberry cream cheese croissant.. i got his number and will be calling him again soon:-)

mommy and me...

mommy stuff
so i sent out the invitation to the 2010 sewing circus (book club). YAY!! and the first book on the list is
COMMITTED, by Elizabeth Gilbert.
synopsis: A SKEPTIC MAKES PEACE WITH MARRIAGE - which tells the story of the author's efforts to work through all her fears and hesitations about matrimony, after she and her Brazilian sweetheart were unexpectedly "sentenced to wed" by the United States Department of Homeland Security.

i hope the single ladies dont get too bored or jaded by this one.. i thought we'd start out with something that would make us laugh...

currently trying to dig up and read her best known book 2006 memoir (Eat, Pray, Love) before we meet...

i caught a little of the barefoot contessa yesterday in passing and she was putting together a lovely
asian grilled salmon. the marinade was super easy (chopped garlic, olive oil, dijon mustard and soy sauce) so i gave it a whirl tonight and the hubby CLEANED HIS PLATE!!  i love when that happens!!

it was SO flavorful! i served it up with rice and fresh sauteed green beans and matchstick carrots:-)

baby stuff
the munchkin has outgrown these adorable little "olivia" shoes by smaller. we got them at our favorite store Sprout/Seed Factory on Howell Mill. the ladies there are incredible, and smart, and lovely..

while surfing for shoes i ran into this adorable little number.. i wish it came in extra, extra, extra large:-) it's from velvet and tweed (I LOVE THAT NAME) a classic and fun online shop for stylish tots.

i am really feeling the rubber soles on the shoes by "livie and luca"!! these tooties brown and fuschia would go with just about anything... i want these shoes (for the munchkin i mean:-)!

super cute combo from imoga kids
