MY NEWEST GIRL CRUSH

And this one. So I suppose her break out role was in The Help -which I saw and had some mixed feelings about (naturally). Oh No! Wait!! remember her in Super Bad (still one of our faves - don't judge me)???!!! But really, I first decided she was a super funny cutie pie in Crazy, Stupid, Love - also my fave Ryan Gosling (apparently I watch a lot of movies).... Totally not the point here.

THIS VIDEO TOTALLY CRACKED ME UP. Not only did she slam dunk Jimmy Fallon in his very own lip syncing contest. I love it when people do something totally shocking and out of character. Like when Mr. H busted out a super cool, funky (and hilarious) breakdancing head and back spin (during a Soul Train Line) at my sisters 80's party some years back.  Additionally, I am now obsessed with learning THIS SONG. Up my street cred and have this handy dandy in my back pocket in case I'm challenged in a battle.

GIRL CRUSH: MARGAERY TYRELL | GAME OF THRONES

Are you watching Game of Thrones?!! Well it is back in its fourth season and better than ever!! I'm a sucker for period (like) films and shows and if there are swords and bloody battles - I'm hooked. I must have watched Gladiator (Mel Gibson) a kajillion times. If you are not familiar, these guys are duking it out to claim the title and the Throne and the secrets and truths and lust and lies keep me anxiously tuning in to HBOGO every week.

All of the ladies of GoT are amazing and no one can deny that Khaleesi (Mother of Dragons - not shown) is quite the bad ass but my dear Margaery..

I've been impressed with this one from the start. Stylish, Clever, Beautiful and Determined (to be Queen)... Perfectly poised to keep that tyrannical Disney prince (Joffrey) in his place *rolls eyes*... The big wedding is next Sunday and I hear it is grand and magical and not to be missed!

Yep. I want to be just like her when I grow up.

GIRL CRUSH: LUPITA NYONG'O

Beauty, Style, Intelligence, Grace, Talent. This list goes on. Totally Crushing on this lady.

I don't usually talk race, but this Forbes article has me feeling some kind of way about Ms. Nyong'o. And this heartfelt and personal story on the business of being beautiful inside stirred so many emotions within me it stole my breath. It excites me beyond measure to have this beautiful young woman blazing a path for all young women and especially women of color. I could not wait to show munchkin pictures of this Academy Award winner and have her hear the eloquent and beautiful acceptance speech she gave.  I will admit although I have been following her this awards season I had not seen the movie. I try to steer clear of movies that will make me burst into tears in the theatre (or make me want to throw things at the screen). But I hear its being re-released this weekend. I'm eager to make sure I see this woman and her amazing style not only on the red carpet and in magazines but in her acting debut.

So excited for her, and wishing her continued success.

What is fundamentally beautiful is compassion, for yourself and for those around you - Lupita Nyong'o

Girl Crush: SHERYL UNDERWOOD

HAPPY FRIDAY!

So not only is she on my BFF wish list. I have a little girl crush on her and here's why:

THE HAIR. I've never worn a wig before. They make me nervous. I'm sure one of my little people would snatch it off and throw it on the ground at the most inopportune time. But this girl rocks the heck out of some of the most fabulous hair I have EVER seen.

SHE CRACKS ME UP.  An American Comedian, now keeping it real on The Talk on CBS. I love a girl who keeps it real (FUNNY). Southern, and charming, and HILARIOUS.

SHE IS PALS WITH THE FOLKS ON  THE YOUNG and THE RESTLESS AND I'M SUPER JEALOUS. I remember when I first saw her hugged up with Victor Newman (and Shemar Moore) and thought, "What in the ham sandwich?!" I'm a lifelong/die hard fan of The Young and The Restless  (who are you to judge me). I have been watching it since I was in my momma's belly and if anyone deserves to hug up on Victor and Nikki, its ME. I'm just saying.

Girl Crush - Nikki Newman

40 years and counting (The Young and the Restless not Melody Scott Thomas)! This chica started on The Young and the Restless at 23 and has aged quite gracefully over the years.

My idol - pretty much the quintessential ideal of what you should expect (and demand) as a "grown lady." Yeah! I said it!!

A satin bath robe in the perfect shade of teal. How to run for Senate and take over a multibillion dollar corporation. What to demand in your divorce settlement (just in case). And how to marry your (lying, cheating, womanizing) soulmate over and over again in the most elaborate and intimate settings.  Forget Blue Ridge (Georgia), I'm building my 2nd house in the mountains of Genoa City.

Why I love her so:

The Hair - mesmerizing right?

The Ranch - they just re-did the whole thing (after her ex- daughter-in-law burned it to the ground in an bipolar and drunken rage). Very metropolitan - the house and the scenario.

Victor Newman - need I say more. All brown ladies love Victor Newman. Even in his old distinguished age. Ask fellow Super Fan Sheryl Underwood:-)

Her Seedy Past - nothing like a great rags to riches, Pretty Woman story to make you believe anything is possible. On another note she was no Claremont stripper. The costumes were very Vegas Show Girl. That's (somewhat) respectable, right ?

She's an Equestrian - All well-bred women are right?  She got a late start (with her previous stage life), so there is hope for us all.  In my next life. I promise. A champion horse rider, with stables on my 100 acre property. Can I fit all that on my vision board?

At any rate, here's to the next fabulous 40 Nikki!!

Girl Crush - Kate Middleton

I have not formally wished the princess congratulations on her awesome news! Not only did we get to witness a royal wedding (I was up at 4 a.m. like the rest of you), but now the beginning of this modern and majestic family. She is the epitome of style and grace. Ladylike Chic. And with hair that full and shiny you know she's going to be a great mum. I'm certain the two are related:-)

Speaking of the Brits. My good friend (and her Hulu) are visiting for a bit and I will be binging on Downton Abbey!! Sadly (and oddly) I have not seen a single episode, but I am ecstatic about diving in (in the middle of the night while everyone is sleeping)! I have said on many occasions that I will be a British (Duchess) in my next life.

 Totally Crushing on this one (oh and her hair, and this emerald green dress) .
