so thankful!

The family came up for Thanksgiving!! I was eagerly anticipating thier arrival.. Oh  how I miss my family so!! Sister brought her boo too;-) Uncle Sonny even came down from Harrisburg, PA. I was determined to pull off the perfect hosted family dinner and I must say, besides the fact that dinner was two hours late.. it went off without a hitch!

We had Stuffing (my mom's recipe) and collard greens (my dad's recipe) and green beans w/ potatoes (i cooked every last drop of nutrients out of them and they were delicious)!  None of these are the real pix of the food b/c I was too busy cooking to make pix... but I promise my food looked just as yummy!

This is the one and only time i will reveal my "secret" recipe for "Bunnie's Smoked Gouda Macaroni and Cheese." I decided that this will be "my" dish that I will pass down for generations for the next 300 years... again with the bourgeois southern remixes. i dont use the bread or spinach, but i do sprinkle a little bread crumbs on top and i u use a can of evaporated milk and whole milk instead of skim milk. My dad kept asking about the smoked "boudie". And how he was going to have to get my mom to find some..

This Good Eats Roast Turkey is Alton Brown's recipe..  The package said it was 16 - 20 lbs..  I was just happy it wasnt still clucking. I did my own brining and everything!! It actually turned out to be pretty juicy! I like JUICY!

And hubby's favorite is my fresh Cranberry Sauce.
No one in my family had ever even had a fresh cranberry. They loved it.. And I ate enough of it that I had to put my belt in the last hole:-(

My sister made many sweet potato pies, but mommy made her SWEET POTATO PIE WITH SPLENDA.  And it actually turned out pretty good.

I am SO Thankful for my family, and the many blessings that the Lord has bestowed upon me and my love one's ~ Happy Thanksgiving!!

my cutie pie:-) muwah!

Hey I remember that sofa! Your family looks so picture-book perfect! Now I wish I had made cranberry sauce. I bet everything was marvelous. Can't wait to see you in a few days.
