The kiddos had cabin fever this past week and so we bundled up in hats and scarves and mittens and went on a great ICE HUNT (finding all of the frozen rain and then chucking it over the back deck like maniacs)! After this little adventure I helped warm those frozen fingers and toes with hot chocolate. For some reason I have marshmallows galore and went bananas on the amount of candy canes this christmas so we had enough leftovers to send these munchkins in to sugar over drive. It happens. And it was GOOD.
STEP 1
In a large bowl, combine sugar, cocoa, and salt, and whisk to combine well. Store the mixture in an airtight container.
STEP 2
Warm the milk in a saucepan set over medium-low heat, taking care not to let the milk boil; as it warms, stir in 2 tablespoons of mix for each cup of milk.
This mix should keep all winter if stored in an airtight container.
p.s. I also keep Trader Joes Apple Cider on hand. Throw it in my little dutch oven (or the crock pot) with some cinnamon sticks on low and YUM all day.. And the house smells SO GOOD.
xx,
Bunnie
