I meant to tell you about this. A few months back I
started up a little book club for the munchkin and her pals. Mostly so
I she could have a way to keep in touch with some good friends she
made in Mommy and Me and in Preschool that she wont get to see much since they
are all in different schools now. But also to add to her little library, continue to grow her love for learning, and move into
chapter books in a fun and special way.
I was super excited when Rachel at The Seed Factory agreed
to host our most recent gathering. We got to know the owner and this magical
store while I was pregnant with the munchkin - its where we registered and got
a lot of AMAZING things for the nursery...
Its a beautiful space. Stylish Clothes, Modern
Toys, children's BOOKS (and so much more).
The moms pitch in with treats (thanks Cathy for the YUM iced coffee).. and it is SO MUCH FUN... The moms girls catch up
over snacks, art, and books! So far we've introduced The Magic Tree House
Series, Nancy Clancy (big kid Fancy Nancy), and now The Critter Club Series.
The best part is when we reveal the newest book and read a chapter or two to
get them all excited about what's in store..
Oh yes, and about the name Giggle Girls (trademark pending)... One day I picked the munchkin up from preschool and her teacher
told me that she and another of her classmates had a really fun day. They were
just giggling together ALL DAY. So much that she started calling them the giggle
girls that day. It made me smile. Nothing like giggling with your favorite pal
right?
I considered changing it to something like Brave
Girls, or Adventure Girls.. less trivial you know.. but at this age.. you
should be able to enjoy what being a kid is all about.. learning new things and having
fun!
Do you have any suggestions for chapter books for
early readers? Better yet, what was your favorite book as a child?
xx,
Bunnie

This is so adorable! Such a wonderful idea and I'm sure they absolutely love it. While there aren't any book clubs out here for young readers as young as my children (at least I think), we try to attend the story times at the library.
I think my favorite book as a child was "There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly." As I got into chapter books, I developed a love for Nancy Drew and The Babysitters Club.
This a awesome idea for young readers!! I have seen a book club idea before for the kiddies! Super cute decor and spread as well! Wimpy kids and Pete the Cat for toddlers. I liked Amelia Bedilia and Judy Blume growing up!
Awwww... This is such an awesome idea! What a great way for the mom & girls to get together for an awesome time! Also, educational & FUN way to learn!

The cutest and most awesome book club ever!
You should totally start one (if you are so inclined)!! I know you already have PLENTY on your schedule though. But just in case, the library usually has rooms they will lend for free for such meetings... I think Charlottes Web was the first book I read cover to cover that I can recall. I have a copy saved for Andie (she already loves the movie:-)
Hey Thanks Tanesha! Yes!! Amelia Bedelia and Judy Blume were some of my Favorites TOO!! Pete the Cat definitely gets some play around here, but will have to check out Wimpy Kids!! Thanks for the recommendations!
Girl! They are so funny too! They really look forward to it (just like we do when its time to get together with the girls). She makes a big deal about making sure we finish reading in time for her next book club meeting too. Making learning fun at this early age I think will really help in the long run (I HOPE:-)
SO GLAD you and Ini could make it! I think she is really having fun with her Sister In Law and the big girls:-) She probably reads better than most of them anyway:-)
HAHAHA! Just seeing this, I actually came back to read and comment again. LOVE love our book club, the best ever! Everyone with an age appropriate daughter really should join Giggle Girl and now we have stationery, oh boy. Well done Bunnie and happy to be the swankiest mother in law around. LOL
