mid summer nights dream...

it was a perfect evening to throw a couple of things on the grill and hang out on the deck for a bit... we pulled out the little pool and let the little munchkin splash around for a bit while i cut up vegetables and skewered a couple of things.. some chilled beverages and a nice breeze. it looks like it might rain.. even better.

i should be sleeping..

but instead i'm tooling around on the web looking for inspiration for my munchkin's 2nd birthday coming up at the end of august.. oh. and also working on some compliance modules for work:-(

didnt have much luck on the party planning front but i did run into these inspiring ideas for grown up outdoor shin digs for the summer..

I'm so looking forward to a little something like this.. I have a birthday coming up and a little birthday backyard (deck) brunch sounds perfecto!

I'm SO doing this for my next get together.. little bags.. check! scalloped scissors.. check! maybe i'll use grapes instead? Nah.. these red cherries really pop!

these fruit spritzers are making my mouth water even now... now if i just had these tall sleek tumblers... i think they would look just as yummy in my mason jars?

can someone pretty please get my hubby to build me one of these canopies for my back deck? it would be so super cute with some little paper laterns for a little deck barbeque?

just as soon as a get a sewing machine i'm going to make pretty slip covers for my teak deck furniture.. no really i am..

she made this table cloth by sewing 15 bandanas together.. dollar tree here i come!!
 cute, cute, cute.. thanks martha!

camera ready...

as soon as the little munchkin perked up this weekend i hit the town with my bff. after being so stressed all of last week i was ready to blow off a little steam with a little girls night out. we were invited to a private viewing of atlanta based fashion designer evelyn lambert's  fall 2010 collection. i absolutely adore her work.. her designs are simple but modern and they reflect her international background.

loves it!

that's evelyn standing next to me!

and that's me and GiGi breaking it down on the dance floor after the show:-)

fun times!

spring fever and other randomness...

so the hubby came home and pushed play on this one.. it's one of our favs! she's like diana ross and tina turner (most of the time:-) mashed into one supa sexy dancin' machine!! needless to say we got quite the workout before dinner.. there's no way you can listen to her without.. well you know (uh oh uh oh uh oh:-).

at any rate.. i'm SO ready for warm weather and spring time.

lately i've been day dreaming about...

looking for summer vacay spots?

herbs and fresh flowers in my kitchen window sill..

the sewing circus book club

i've been a bad blogger this past week or so. it's been a whirlwind of activity.. quite more than i'm accustomed to all at once...

at any rate...

one of the highlights was our first book club meeting of the year.. i actually started this book club last year after the munchkin was born and i decided to stay at home with her for a bit.. it was my way of keeping up with some great friends that i might not get to see regularly otherwise...  i got to read great books and have great conversation with some of the most wonderful ladies i know...

there are some original members but mostly new.. a few were missing but promised to catch up with us next time:-)

so we met here on saturday morning and had a great breakfast and discussed our first book...

personally, i was not as entertained as i would have like to have been by the book. however, it was quite insightful and informative... basically a cynics take on the institution of marraige.
her research on the history of, western views, and that of other cultures..
with a goal of convincing herself that marraige to her can be a good thing..
even the second time around.
we gave it a collective 3.5 out of 5.

and now for the ladies:-)  they are all SO DYNAMIC!! I want to be like each and every one of them some day...

in a word:

 charming.

generous.

 thoughtful.

 smart.

classic.

 best all around.

soulful.

and one of my best pals in the whole wide world even flew in from jax to kick us off! she is the best house guest ever.. she also picked the next book:

looking forward to reading this one.. she picked it because she thought the cover was beautiful.. i totally agree...

this is my friend mr. strawberry cream cheese croissant.. i got his number and will be calling him again soon:-)
