A BRIEF INTERMISSION...

Hey Folks!

I think I read somewhere that you aren't supposed to announce or bring attention to any breaks in blog posting and such. But so anyway, out of respect for you, and my blog, which I love so much, I thought it would be right. Or at least okay.

In an effort to focus more fully on The Giggle Girls Book Club Project (and my family). I am going take a small break from the blog.  I have not been doing a great job at writing awesome and fun blog posts and taking care of these little people (and H) and this house and launching the business. So...

I'll be spending a little time catching up on a few things like trying to keep up with this laundry list that seems to be the culprit of the extra dirty socks I took off Avery this morning. And maybe even getting in this - which I'm sure will make everything else fall into place.

But most importantly, I'll be doing my darndest to focus on the website and building relationships with toy and craft vendors and book publishers.  Any help, contacts, forwards, "likes" and "shares" you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

In the interim, I will still be taking snapshots of my much needed sanity breaks from the kiddos and the hustle of trying my hardest to be a successful work/stay at home mommy over here at our spot.

If you don't mind,

Please spread the word about THE GIGGLE GIRLS BOOK CLUB as I attempt to help breed the new young bookish clique:-)

I will most certainly be back with amazing new things to share!

MAKING MEMORIES: 5/52

52 Project; a year long weekly portrait series of my little crew.

Last week, because of a couple of a couple of snow days, I had these guys all to myself. It doesn't snow here in Atlanta much so we took full advantage.  H was in rare form and proceeded to make the biggest snow angel I've seen (as a demonstration of course). and little h only insisted that we blow bubbles (not an easy task in arctic temps)?! SO MUCH FUN.

loving all of the snow pics. would love to see yours.

MAKING MEMORIES: PROJECT 52 - WEEK 4

I picked up my camera to sift through the photos to see what I had snapped during the week - empty. The iPhone - nada. What in the world happened?!

And then there was this - SNOW!

Just in the nick of time and and a pleasant and welcome surprise on yesterday. Mostly. This little winter storm brought Atlanta to its knees, literally.  I had just put h. down for a nap when it all started. I had joked with H on the phone that morning that I'd let munchkin sleep at the school before I woke him up from a nap to pick her up early. Sadly, some people were stranded and really did have to sleep at schools all night.  As for us, as soon as we hung up H saw flurries and decided to work the rest of the day from home and hurried over to pick the munchkin up from Kindergarten (and dinner and firewood) and made it home just before all hell broke loose in the city.

Although the kiddos were able to bundle up and take advantage of the snow day we had been hoping for. I was heartbroken and very prayerful for those who were stuck in gridlock traffic in the cold trying to get to their families.

Last night I was SUPER GRATEFUL FOR JUST THE NECESSITIES OF LIFE. Shelter, Heat, Warm Clothes, Food, Peace of Mind.  I was also encouraged and proud of all of the Atlanta residents that lent a helping hand and welcomed people into their homes and businesses to get out of the cold and have something warm to eat and drink for the night.

I've been calling this Project 52 "Making Memories". And that we did. This is one we are sure not to forget, for more reason than one.

THREE TIPS FOR GREAT {FALL} PICTURES

Originally this post was going to be about how to get great (the best possible) school pictures.. but since most have already gone through this process for this school year please file this away for future reference. I was doing a little organizing in my home office and ran across some school pictures that munchkin took last year in pre-k that left me feeling like I should have been a bit more prepared. Lets just say a black head band with a humongous flower made her look like she had no hair, and I put a tad way too much vaseline on her face which made her look like she had just finished eating a bag of greasy waffle fries (YUM). At any rate, I filed those pics away (instead of sending them out to the family) and took some notes for next time. I'll let you know how her school pics turned out!

In the mean time, we are gearing up to do some individual pics of the kids (with Our Labor of Love - YAY!! ) and family pictures and so I thought these tips might be equally useful (along with these). I mean professional photographs can be expensive! Not to mention they will be going up on walls and in photo albums. Just trying to give it my best (snap) shot. Ha!

Um, this little lady is flawless right? I wished any of my pictures turned out like this. I mean any pictures of me personally...But the moral of this picture is her (stinkin' cute) accessories. Dress it up a little. Pearls never go out of style an that head band makes a statement that will stand the test of time. Do it.

A little color goes a long way. And some contrast adds character. A bright sweater or contrasting tights would certainly do the trick. Be sure to pick items that are burst of color but YOUR KIDS style (i.e. preppy, bohemian, girly, rocker, etc).

Now this little guys has it all pulled together. And to top it all off. The smile. How many 100's of pics do you have to take to get the littles to look directly at the camera and smile at the same time. And I mean a good smile. Not the one where they look like they are showing their teeth to the dentist or had a mile stroke. I'm just saying. Practice. Say to them.. smile! Okay now a little less. Yes, just like that. now do it again.  YES!!

This advice goes for grow ups a well as the littles. I think I'm a bit out of practice and could stand to brush up on my smize.

That is all. Hope this helps someone:-)
