FIVE FUN THINGS TO DO THIS LONG WEEKEND | MEMORIAL DAY 2014

Turn your back yard (or back deck) into something magical with these fairy lights. I've seen similar one's at Target too!

A back yard movie party! I've ALWAYS wanted to pull off a little soiree like this.

GIANT Bubbles! Hours of fun - Bubbles never let me down.

Plant a lemon tree for lemonade and cocktails all summer long.

Make this yummy watermelon salad. Watermelon, Summer, Memorial Day weekend. Synonymous right?

Memorial Day shopping. My favorite store's got a great sale going on!! This crab shirt - yes, please.

We made this yummy menu for Fourth of July last year, but I think it would be SO PERFECT for a Memorial Day feast!

What fun things would you add to this list?

FLASHBACK FRIDAY: MY VALENTINE

bunnie and H, circa 2006

we had an anniversary this week. 8 years - woot woot! he gets on my nerves. daily. these last couple of days snowed in with him and the kids was a real test of wills. where neither of us was the winner. we BOTH were. after many fights about whose turn it was to change the stinky diaper, or who sneaked in a nap (or a shower) while the other was doing all the work.  we climbed into bed and made fun of the Juan Pablo and the ladies on The Bachelor and laughed (and did our nightly binge on social media) our selves to sleep.

definitely winning in this life with you.

happy anniversary and happy valentine's day lover.

xx,
Bunnie

in my momma's belly

I have been watching the Young and the Restless since I was in my momma's belly. My grandmother stopped working so she could take care of her grandchildren while her children worked, so every day at lunch time we ate and we watched.

The Newmans, The Abbots.. Drewcilla and Neil. Old Malcolm (Yay), New Malcom (boo - Eddie Winslow?) Cricket and Danny Romalotti. Phyliss.. Sheila Carter!!! (who died a thousand times only to return again..)
Old and new characters have kept me waiting with bated breath.. day after day (yeah I said it!). I scheduled my college classes around them, set my VCR to record them, and DVR'ed when my grown up schedule wouldnt  allow.  And to this day, once I've finished my day and wrestled these munchkins into slumber, I snuggle up to my iPad and get that episode in.. It relaxes me and lets me know that all is well in Genoa City.. and in Bunnieville..

I like to consider myself a Y&R Historian. I've been considering adding it to my credentials:

Bunnie Hilliard, MBA, Y&R Historian

has a nice ring to it...

Here's to your 10,000th episode today!! I will  be tuning in for the next 10,000. (Who are you to judge me any way?!)

team jacob.

so it has happened.

i was totally not even giving any attention or a second thought to these kids... not interested.

now i do get in my occasional dose of US weekly, and i did see a little of the MTV movie awards (okay i TiVoed it) so i'm familiar with who's who and what. but.. i mean, seriously, i'm a grown up with a toddler. i'm a working mom and wife.. trying to start a business.. what interest would i have in some teenage love story?! vampires.. werewolves.. really?! who me?  forget it!

not quite..

recently i was left to my own devices (hubby was on a business trip) and stumbled upon the Twilight movies.. and i  must say... I WAS SITTING ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT AND CANNOT WAIT FOR NEW MOON!!

okay.. i'm a little embarrassed.

but my defenses were down.  and i was a little lonely.. and so i got sucked in:-(

i'm a sucker for a good love story.. so

DONT JUDGE ME!

p.s. who's down for the midnight showing:-)

pick it up!

so after putting this turkey pita's greek style and lemony greek potatoes on the table hubby shouts, "add this to the menu". and then proceeded to clean his plate.. you know how i love when that happens...

and currently hubby is obsessing over this:

i'm sure he'll tell you more..

now off to snuggle up in bed and watch this. I always thought Mr. Prinze was cutie pie!!

I Found It!

So, I've always thought this kid was really funny going back to the days of "Arrested Development". Michael Cera will also be in a new movie "Youth in Revolt". These are shots from him hanging out with Pauly D from "Jersey Shore".

Before the Pauly D treatment

After the Pauly D treatment he becomes the "Serenation".

Flippin' Sweet!

one step at a time...

what i dont understand about this man is why he insists on having me watch a football game that he himself is not watching.. like "oh, turn to the game.. i've been waiting for the game to start." and then he promptly goes to sleep with remote in his hand.. let me say that this is quite annoying since i am not a football fan. i have no desire to watch it. or any other sport (except gymnastics, and ice skating). except i will watch the bengals for a brief moment because thier uniforms are so cute and flashy!

but i digress..

so then when i try and get the remote to turn the channel, he's like "babe, i'm watching this..." when i clearly saw your eyes completely closed and maybe even a little drool on your lip..

the joys of marriage..

which brings me to my point. i've been in little funk. this happens to me when i watch bad tv that i'm ashamed of. or is it the other way around?

at any rate, i realized that i must be ashamed because as i was watching The Real World DC the other night and i thought i heard hubby's footsteps coming up the stairs and i hurried to change the channel so he wouldnt see that i was watching:-( because i was embarrassed.

i think if i put it out there then maybe i'll stop. the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

5 shows that i'm embarrassed to watch and even TiVo occassionally

The Real World
I'll put my age out there and go on record that I remember the first cast like it was yesterday. Kevin, Heather B., Eric.. Hubby and I both agreed that we are too old to continue to watch the show but would allow ourselves to look at any episodes prior to Las Vegas. But sometimes I just cant help myself.. what if i just watch the challenges? HELP. ME. PLEASE.

VH1 Bachelor Shows.. Any of them...
I know it's just wrong. Rock of Love, Flavor of Love, The Love of Ray J... maybe it's the hopeless romantic in me? I even caught myself trying to help this "Entertainer" guy find the perfect girl to help him move out of his mother's basement.  I'm getting nervous.. please dont talk badly about me.

Keeping up with the Kardashians.. I. AM. SO. EMBARRASSED!
It's like US weekly without the commercials?

Teen Mom
Really? Teen Mom? What grade am I in? I'm sure they did not have my demographic in mind when putting this show together.. maybe it's the mom in me.. i could really be THIER mom.. Now that's embarrassing.

The Young and the Restless
Okay, really. I'm not embarrassed by this. I've been watching since I was in the womb. So really its not my fault. I scheduled my college classes around it. and I was on bed rest for the latter part of my pregnancy so my 16 month old can probably hum herself to sleep with the theme music. And they will cancel this show over my dead body. okay maybe a little embarrassed.

A nice Southern girl should not be watching these things! Immediately following, i will send out an email for the ressurection of my book club. I promise. Wanna join?

They Don't Love You Like I Love You

The wife had on a concert t yesterday from when we saw the Yeah Yeah Yeahs live a couple of years back. It reminded me how much I love this band. They are highly creative and tend to try new things on each new album without losing the simplicity of the three member band (lead singer - Karen O, drummer - Brian Chase, guitarist - Nick Zinner). Karen O, recently did the soundtrack for the movie version of Where the Wild Things Are. The director (Spike Jonze) is her boo. They are all very accomplished creative types outside of the band. If you loved the 80's you'll dig them here in the video for Zero off the latest album. Yeah Yeah Yeahs : Now Playing : Zero

in fashion and entertainment:-)

Just some quick notes:-)

This show (The City) has been hit or miss for me this season.. but hubby loves.. not sure why he likes this show but hates the hills? i think he's partial to whitney (soft breathy voice) it's all the same. unfortunately was sucked in since laguna beach:-) and have been following ever since.
definately team lauren so this whole kristin thing is a little annoying.. at any rate.. here's to the rise and fall of freddie fackelmayer..

Gray's Anatomy is really getting good again this season.. SO Dramatic, Funny, Tear-Jerking, Romantic, Loves it!

Love this tweed sheath on Zoe Saldana and leopard print scarf on Shakira. I'm really into the big scarves in the winter time. My mommy told me that you have to keep your chest covered or you'll catch cold...

Found this one of my fav sites (YBF.com). Hubby and I really like the show "Everybody Hates Chris, so I was tickled when I saw that Actors KeKe Palmer &; Tyler James Williams hit the set of KeKe’s upcoming movie True Jackson, VP movie.  Its based on her show of course.  And Tyler’s playing her love interest in the movie.  They are too cute.
