CRAFTERNOON WITH ECLECTICA KIDDO + SEED FACTORY

This weekend was super busy and fun and HOT. Temperatures are rising here in Atlanta. And I for one am ready to put the coats and jackets away and stay out side for a while. After ballet Saturday while little h was napping at home with Tony, we snuck over to the Seed Factory (our have kids boutique) and hung out with the gals of Eclectica Kiddo for some mommy and me time. 

Eclectica Kiddo makes super awesome wood panel and canvas framed kid art. So perfect for kids rooms and play spaces.

Rachel (the owner of Seed Factory) is one of my fave people. We had the pleasure of meeting her when this little squirt was still in my belly. She so expertly helped us pick out the perfect Oeuf crib that we're now using for little h. And she is a super awesome person and mama!

This one gets it from her mama. We love a crafty project. They provided hand stitched craft bags to decorate and sent us home with a cool little garland too!

We even ran into fellow mama blogger Maria! We got a sec to catch up on mama stuff and snap a quick pic!

SO. MUCH. FUN. Thanks so much for having us Seed Factory! We'll take any excuse to come in to the store:-)

a {SUPER SWEET TEA} party

Before I forget, I wanted to share the pics from this adorable little high tea party I styled for fellow blogger Mimi Scarlett. These little darlings were SO ADORABLE. They really had a great time noshing on miniature sandwiches and cupcakes and sweet candies.  We are in the South and its been a VERY HOT  summer so these girls preferred to sip on chilled sweet tea in the tiniest little china. They were dressed to the nines in mini fascinators (small fancy british inspired hats) and little gloves. For fun, they were allowed (just this once) to play in mommy's make up and get all dolled up (lipstick, blush, the works!). And as a special treat I provided each little lady with their very own munchkin statement necklace, handmade by yours truly - trying my hand a little jewelry line {BH&Co.} I think. 

So yes, SO MUCH FUN!

I already have another request for a tea party for the CUTEST soon to be 5 year old and I've got the munchkins {Retro Mermaid} birthday party right around the corner, so I will be pretty busy. Writing and planning parties are my MOST FAVORITE things to do, so I'm a pretty happy girl.

Mothers Day Recap + a {YUMMY} Summer Salad Recipe

No mushy sentiments to share regarding Mothers Day this year. I had visions of getting all dolled up an going to church (i'm glad i didnt because i heard they were sitting in the hallway - don't judge me) with the family, but it was actually pretty low key. And i loved every minute of it.

We went to breakfast at my favorite little restaurant and to the toy park and grilled out and laid around the yard all afternoon.  made dinner and i just relaxed all day WITH NO GUILT.

girl crush + a little {stalking} story

YOWSA, right?! this lady is really doing her thing right now. i'm an admitted SCANDALITE and look forward to watching her (olivia pope) HANDLE BUSINESS every Thursday night. But more importantly. How many lunges will I have to do to make my thighs look like this?  I'm well on my way (lost another two pounds this week!!)!! I will be using this photo as inspiration (hair, lipstick, and I've been practicing this red lipped pout in the mirror).

side note: i've been feeling a little torn between enjoying her steamy scenes with fitz and rolling my eyes at the blatant disrespect for matrimony...

p.s. i stalked a lady int the target today.  although my little h is quite the ladies man, and is a hit with all of his sisters (4 and 5 year old) friends, sadly he doesnt have many of his own. just his one main squeeze penelope:-) i spotted a little dude in the parking lot and put my face to the window of the car. he needs a home boy. we have a play date set up for next week! yay!

its not the first time i've pulled a move like that. scored a little family i dont know what i'd do with out. i'm kind of a little stalker in that way:-)

A Super Sweet {and Southern} Party

I can't believe this little chubba wubba will be a year old in less than two months. We plan to do something small and "southern." I had been pinning a few things here and there and then I ran into this {perfection} invitations/party favor over at Oh So Beautiful Paper - made my heart skip a beat.

Definitely adding this one to the Parties and Playdates File.

Bow Ties (and Barrettes) !!! How fitting for my little man. We are also planning on doing a little baby dedication - something charming, classic, and traditional for mommies little southern gentleman.

Just a Mom? + A Valentine Play Date

I must admit I have been pretty mad at this person for blogging like everyday (and with a newborn no less) I mean how in the hell?! This person literally just screamed at me for 2.5 hours straight . All the while I was trying so hard to remember to be grateful and start the day with LOVE!!! 

Not happening. 

I even read a few more chapters of The Secret last night before bed, determined to have an amazing and productive day. Instead, Mostly this morning, I cried in the closet and wondered if it was too early to start spanking my almost 10 month old (it is and I did not). But truly, it would help if I had just one predictable hour during the day. 

Dear God, Dear Michelle Obama, Dear Oprah, Dear Lesley - Please help me. My worst fear in life now is being "Just a Mom." Although I left my MBA having, well paying corporate gig to do just that. Its just that everyday I feel that urge, the tugging, the whisper to do and be more. For myself, my family. To be successful. By who's standard Is what I'm still working out.

Okay so back to Lesley. Whom I think is an awesome amazing person. I LOVE, LOVE her blog and she is actually the one who inspired me way back when (the munchkin was born) to blog about my little family. So obviously I want to be just like this chic (and this one, oh and this one) when I grow up. And I will.

I wrote this entire post while baby boy was strapped to my chest in the Ergo (maybe that's the ticket?). And now that its 8:27 am and he has finally fallen asleep. I think I'll start over with a (quick) cup of tea (A Chai Latte is my favorite). Somehow I managed to get dressed, make breakfast and lunch and get munchkin ready for school (yes, patting myself in the back) in between crying fits (mine not his). So it seems today's post over on Lesley's blog was right on time:-)

So in an effort to rejigger todays frequency and focus on the things that I am grateful (to God) for. I wanted to post these lovely pics from this play date turned sweet little Valentines Day celebration.

As a party planner I usually have plenty in my arsenal to throw an impromptu soiree.  We had cupcakes and decorated tea mugs and also made sweet little felt barrettes with a hair clip and my trusty hot glue gun.  Munchkin also made valentine friendship bracelets for her pals.

Entertaining 101 - A Lesson from Fancy Nancy

On Parties.
Its what I love to do. I dont need a reason. I pack a table and table cloth for the playground on Saturdays (and a bottle of wine - its for my nerves).

I'm sure you already know this. But just in case. Here is how to ALWAYS be prepared to give a pretty little party.

Fancy Nancy sets a great example, so I'd like to start here. Invest in these few things and keep them in your closet for spur of the moment occasions or your planned parties. You wont regret it.

Table Cloth  A real one. Not your grandmothers heirloom. Something you wont mind washing again and again. Start at Target and go from there.

Cake Plate - I keep one on the counter in the kitchen even if its empty. Its pretty and I like to look at it. Your guests will too.

Plates and Cups - Real Ones. Not glass but some fancy acrylic (bpa free) tumblers will do.

Fancy Pastry of some sort - Cupcakes, cookies, scones, muffins...

Fresh Flowers - A few stems in a mason jar is a good start.

Name Tents - some white card stock, pretty paper and colored pencil/marker (or printer) are all  you need.. Pop over to the Michaels, go to the clearance rack. Pick up your favorite and keep it in your drawer. You'll be glad you did. And if there are name tents you know there were actual

Invitations. Not Evites. I saved this until last, because I thought it might offend some people (and I'm not judging). Now I get it, we all live very busy lives. Who has the time to find, print, address, mail and track RSVPs for a real invite?! But it MUST BE DONE. Parties are personal. Thats why we have them. To eat, laugh, share, celebrate, make memories.. And the invite sets the tone. My suggestion is that if you cant send an actual invite, send a personal email to the effect of: "We are are having a little something for baby Sarah at our house; I hope you can come..." Its better. Electronic invitations are blasphemous. I'm not judging.. I'm just saying.
