LITTLE H'S CHRISTMAS LIST

18month old christmas list

hey!!

Its funny.. I asked him what his name was and he said.. B-u-u-d-d-i-e-e-e.. That's what I call him most time. Bud! Buddy!! And that he is.. mommy's little buddy. I'm thinking that he might have an inkling of whats happening this time around on Christmas. He is a year and a half now and gets quite excited in the toy section of the store and estatic when he sees he train table at our visits to the Barnes and Nobles. Which is why I'm super excited to get him his very first train set this year!! We got one for Andie when she was a toddler and have since lost all the pieces as a result of her lackluster interest. I spotted this Brio set at our last visit to our favorite little place for toys and books (and clothes and everything in between) the Seed Factory.

We are on our second session at The Music Class which little h LOVES! He and his sister both are quite rhythmic and musical. Munchkin is quite the graceful dancer and song writer and little h can clap and sing with the best of them. Biased maybe? We love Plan Toys around here, so I think this little drum will be a nice addition and maybe just the beginning for my budding Pop Stars:-)

My bud loved Peek A Who so much that it has been ripped in half. It started out as an old copy of the munchkins, so I'm hoping he is as excited as I am to see it replaced.

My plan is to be SUPER organized in the new year with work and play. I'm planning on logging some serious learn and play time with little h and these Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles.

We like The Little People . Munchkin had a little family and a toy house that we will be adding to with these guys and their bus. Honestly I was looking for some brown people to add to the crew. Little h is really digging "The Wheels on the Bus" song right now, so I'm already chuckling at the thought of this pulling up in front of the house - HA!

The kids get 5 things from their list including some new winter clothes. They have both gotten bigger and longer over the year so I've scoured the web for tights and scarves and hats and sweaters that fit and to keep them warm (and SO CUTE) over the next few months - Gap Kids has had some awesome deals over the last few weeks.

I'm thinking this is a pretty perfect list for my new toddler (or yours) boy. He is super smart and inquisitive and I can't wait to see his little eyes fall out on the floor when  he sees what Santa left for him:-)

Anything you'd add to this list?

Green Thumb Thursday

So back in April My folks came to visit for a bit, and since my dad has such a lush and delicious garden in his back yard, I thought it would be a good time for him to aide me in my efforts to culminate my own little green thumb.

it is my goal in life to be a chocolatey martha stewart (yep i said it!)and grow something that i can eat. right now, i'm just bootleg martha stewart. dont judge me. i'm working on it.

at any rate, i thought a good test would be to start with work on a container garden full of all of the things i would need to make a batch of bunnie's yummy home made salsa! tomates, onions, jalapeno's, bell pepper, some herbs and such... easy breezy right? umm... no.

so i took this pic was taken about a week after planting.

and a month and a half later. they have not grown one inch.. i mean they are still very much green and alive... thats about it.

this is my little munchkin helping to make markers for the different plants. she is such a good little helper:)
But I digress...

So I decided to take matters into my own hands and do what any driven and determined confident woman would do. I cheated (so to speak). I went out and bought some saplings and decided to try again. I know its a little late for planting season. But I'm on a mission.

I even threw in some fruits this time (since I was on a roll, with my bad self:-).

I'm also, i'm using a little plant booster of sorts (still cheating)..

i'd like to have a little nook like this with a little table, and chair and a pitcher of sangria:)

so I'll keep you posted on my progress....

Sledghammer - Peter Gabriel - 1986

So, I went to Lowe's this morning to pick up potting soil and weed tarp. I come home with a sledgehammer! Go figure. I really needed it to pound this 2 foot grounding rod into the ground that was in the corner of my front lawn. Mission Accomplished! What a way to relieve the stress of a trying work week. I will feel it tomorrow.

It made me think of the song Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel too. I love the 80s! I don't know what the heck he is really singing about though.

Anyway, the hammer is awesome. It's an 8 lb. Kobolt with an American hickory handle and overstrike protection. (shown above) Flippin' sweet!

Perfectly Preserved

There was a nice surprise in this weekend's Financial Times. Our hometown, Jacksonville, Florida, is this week's Next Neighbourhood! (British spelling for a British paper) . I lived in one of the featured sections (Riverside) before following the love of my life to the big city of the south. Loves it still.

loving my roots...

i'm realizing more and more everyday that the thing i love most in this world is taking care of my family... i never thought i would be this lady... i always thought i'd be ms. jetsetting-dealmaking-corporate city slicker..  i mean growing up in my big small town in florida all i could think about is what was outside the city limits...  and now that i've lived a couple places and done some things... what i enjoy most is being a wife and a mommy.. and all that comes along with that.

there are no better feelings that snuggling with my hubby at bed time and the little kisses he gives me when he wakes up briefly in the middle of the night.  and i love to smell my munchkin's breath.. i dont know why.. it doesnt smell like anything? but i LOVE it...

at any rate..

i made some home made apple cinamon  oatmeal this weekend..  i used apple juice and pureed apples and cinamon. YUM!

my favorite was the little chunks of apples..

she's so grown up now!!
16 months and counting.. should she know how to play hide and seek? well there are a couple of cabinets that i leave unlocked that have the plastics in them that she's plays in. we saw her climbing inside and that she ws trying to close the door.. we figured it would take her at least a couple of days to figure out how to close the door behind her.. try a couple of seconds!! of course i played the distressed "where's baby?!!!" act. .and she loved every minute of it, cracking herself up inside.. she's definately not afraid of the dark!!

a little late to the game on this one, but i was so excited to give it a try!!  i looked all over for a black black apple doll, to no avail so i was on my own on this one. martha stewart provided the tutorial from the ladies.
i didnt finish this up in time for Christmas.. so i think i'll give it to her for Valentine's Day.. i still need to stuff it. and am trying to figure out how to give her some sweet little mary jane's.. and maybe some accessories.. i'm such a novice at sewing but am looking forward to more projects! what should we name her?!!

hubby says she has smoker's lips?

I'm so excited!

About to crawl into bed with a cup of Chai and a copy of the latest Real Simple magazine that I swiped from my bestie Jill!! Sweet Relaxation..

But before I do that.. Just wanted to post a couple of cute finds that I came up on while perusing the internet on some of my fav sites..

I'm absolutely amazed at the makeover to this $40 credenza from the Little Green Notebook.
I am SO on a mission to find my own little treasure to spice up for the house.  But first I will need to get a different color paint on these walls for the perfect backdrop.
