FALL DECOR | DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH : SPOOKY BOOK PAGE

photo via my instagram

If you haven't already put up your fall wreath and were looking for something fun and festive (and easy) for halloween… I thought I'd share a DIY wreath tutorial for the wreath currently hanging on our front door. Looks pretty good right? Instead of spending $40 plus on one of the beautiful Etsy or store bought wreaths, I thought I'd make my own.. Well..this was actually a leftover wreath from a book party from a friend. I hot glued on a couple of spiders and repurposed it as one of my fall/halloween wreaths  WOOT.

However… this DIY Halloween wreath is pretty similar to this coffee filter wreath I've made before. You just need:

DIY Wreath Supplies:
grapevine wreath or styrofoam wreath from Michaels or Hobby Lobby or the like.
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- old book that you don't mind ripping the pages out of. I would suggest picking up one at the Dollar Tree. Read a few pages and make sure its not some literary classic you'll regret demolishing later.
plastic spiders

DIY Wreath Directions:
1. Tear a page out of the book and roll it in a method of your choosing. I prefer making a fold to front, fold to back "s" shape.
2. After rolling the page, apply some glue at the end of the roll and glue it to the wreath. Work your way from the bottom of the wreath up to the top, finishing one layer before moving to the next.
3. To fill in any spaces, you’ll simply roll a page, apply glue to the ends, and just stick it in the wreath. The filler pages don’t necessarily need to touch the wreath; they can stick to the pages already glued to the wreath if need be. Use the filler pages to fill in holes and add some height.

Hoping to get over to the pumpkin patch and get the rest of the porch dressed for fall.

I hope you make this! Please let me know if you do it!

GRATEFUL WEEKEND + THE YUMMIEST {WERTHER'S} CARAMELS

This weekend has felt like the culmination of all that is fall. I finally got the mums for the front porch. We went to munchkins school fall festival. We lit the first fire of the season. H even had a few of his friends in town for  a weekend of festivities to welcome home a good friend moving back to the U.S. from a stint in Dubai. More male bonding than you can shake a stick at. Good Friends, Good Food, and Yummy Drinks! YES.

You know its fall when you start dipping your apples in all sorts of yummy goodness.  Werther's Original was kind enough to send over a basket full of their Werther's Original Baking Caramels that I had been holding on to for such a occasion. I'm usually a candied apple girl, but this weekend we made super sticky and sweet caramel apples. We had some of the munchkins friends over and the grown ups joined in and IT WAS GOOD.

The next morning we used some of the left over caramels in our coffee - Caramel Mocha. EVEN BETTER. They will be joining my other coffee condiments (cream, sugar, cinnamon) on the table from now on. And so my baking wheels are spinning. Next up, I think I'll be doing a remix of my Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies with these bad babies (the caramels.. bad babies?) Oh and tons of other ideas here.

So yes, wrapping up the weekend in one of my favorite little coffee shops around the corner while the guys keep and eye on the munchkins and watch a little football. The little one hasnt been sleeping the greatest, and sniffles have been passed around twice now, but by now I know it comes with the territory.  I've got all of the necessary stocked up and am working on this natural vapor rub  to have on hand.

There are plenty of left overs from the weekend which means Sunday dinner is done. Woot Woot! I love it when that happens!

Hope you had a great weekend too. I really do:-)

{HELLO OCTOBER} THE GEORGIA STATE FAIR!!

Hello October!! Woot Woot!
We almost missed this (as the next day was the last), but so glad we were able to make it to the Fair this year!! Its the first time I've been since we moved to Atlanta 10 years ago. I used to go every year as a kid (and teenager) in Florida. It always came around Halloween so we'd go at night and it was so Magical (and spooky!)!! Please forgive the photo overload, but it was such a beautiful day. LOOK AT THAT SKY!! The weather was perfect - so we headed out right after munchkins ballet practice.

What a perfect way to kick off Fall!!

It was game day, so H made us get dressed in our best lucky colors - Go Irish!!

In hindsight, I realized that I didnt even get on any rides myself! Too busy wrangling these folks. I was too afraid to put little h on any rides. He's such a wiggle worm, and I thought he might abandon ship. No I'm sure he would. So I held him on the carousel (with the jaws of life) and around we went! We met up with some good friends so Andie had a partner (in crime) for the festivities. I must admit, I had alterior motives for wanting to take the kiddos this year. And I totally scored! Gah!! This is my problem. Total sugar addict. No really, I think I need some therapy or hypnosis or something. I found an old oreo at the bottom of my purse yesterday and I ate it. It was in a ziplock?!!

But I digress..

I hope you have all sorts of fun planned for the holidays. I think we are heading out to the pumpkin patch next weekend. I'm itching to get my fall porch ready and set.

xx,
Bunnie

HASHTAG GRATEFUL

Although that little stinker woke us up at 5 am and only went back down for 30 minutes before he decided to wake us all up for the day and H fibbed about how much milk was left in the fridge so he wouldn't have to make pancakes - we headed off to our favorite little cafe  for an early breakfast before church. Well actually, I sent H to the church house while The little one naps. We've been taking turns taking munchkin to the 10 am service while the other gets a quiet hour or so at home. So far it's working. And today I get to watch a little News Room and write some and take a deep breath after a successful tea party hosted by the little event company I started with a friend a bit ago.

There is a sink full of dishes, three baskets of clean laundry and no ones bed is made. NO MATTER. I'm feeling GRATEFUL. And I'd really like to hold on to that feeling. I'm learning to look past the clutter and see the good. Move past the interruptions and do good. And be grateful for what is good. Its not always easy.  But I'm going to work on that this week.

Today I am grateful for baby steps.
I am grateful for my little family.
I am grateful for good friends.
I am grateful for the peace of mind that I have today, and hope to hold on to that, and that it multiplies.

What are you GRATEFUL for?

Oh and HAPPY FIRST DAY OFF FALL!!

Bunnie

CLASSIC LIVING {SOME FALL DECOR INSPIRATION}

Please forgive me for going on and on about FALL. And its still a week or so away??!!! I know I have a problem.  It really is my FAVORITE. Its the prelude to all of the really fun holidays and gives me a reason to spruce up the place. The house just feels so warm and full during this time of the year. Unfortunately, I will probably carryon like this AT LEAST until Halloween:-(

I've been busy pinning and tucking ideas away. We will certainly be going to the pumpkin patch and I'm really looking forward to taking the kiddos to the County Fair this year. I should be off of my (failed attempts) sugar fast and be able to indulge in a candied apple and a funnel cake or two.

AHHH!! Cant wait!!

In the mean time here is Some Fall Inspiration:

My Fall Porch Pinspiration.
Some cool ideas for pumpkin carving.
Five ways to make your pumpkins live longer.
Some of my favorite recipes to whip up here, here, and here.
This delicious memory still sticks out in my mind oh and this one too.

Do you  have any plans or traditions during this time of year?

Bunnie

last week i finally..

Thanks to The Nester, I finally finished this wreath (made with coffee filters) I've been meaning to try! Im pretty excited about the way it turned out! I was going for "fall" that way i can keep it up until after Thanksgiving..

I found an old worn book for .75 at a second hand book store and used  it to make a few leaves.. and also, shellacked a few red maple leaves from one of the trees in my frontyard with some modge podge.. they still crinkled up after i glued them in.. but i think it still turned out okay... it looks "natural" right?

so here's the front porch "decorated" for fall.. the munchkin helped me arrange some pumpkins and a few mums in what were our hanging pots..

voila!

Hoping you are having a great fall!

I like to start my blog posts as if we're already in the middle of a conversation. I pretend that we are the oldest and dearest friends - as opposed to what we actually are - people who dont know each others names (well some of you anyway:)...

I hope you are enjoying the change of seasons as much as I am. I LOVE FALL! the crisp air, the changes all around us.. even though its not the beginning of a new year.. for some reason it feels like a time for beginnings to me? with that in mind, i wanted to write you about a few of the changes around here in bunnieville..

munchkin turned three! and is very excited about preschool and ballet! and i'm super excited about becoming a crazy stagemom!! a roll i was born to fill:) i've already looked into a leotard in my size (just in case they need me to step in)...

i'm moving forward on a little event planning venture (check it: www.baileyblue.com)! wish me luck!

and hubby is hard at work finishing up his graduate degree at Notre Dame. Go Irish! Did I mention I hate football season? I know blaspheme right?

At any rate, more to come.. Hope you are having a great fall!
