FALL DECOR | DIY HALLOWEEN WREATH : SPOOKY BOOK PAGE

photo via my instagram

If you haven't already put up your fall wreath and were looking for something fun and festive (and easy) for halloween… I thought I'd share a DIY wreath tutorial for the wreath currently hanging on our front door. Looks pretty good right? Instead of spending $40 plus on one of the beautiful Etsy or store bought wreaths, I thought I'd make my own.. Well..this was actually a leftover wreath from a book party from a friend. I hot glued on a couple of spiders and repurposed it as one of my fall/halloween wreaths  WOOT.

However… this DIY Halloween wreath is pretty similar to this coffee filter wreath I've made before. You just need:

DIY Wreath Supplies:
grapevine wreath or styrofoam wreath from Michaels or Hobby Lobby or the like.
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
- old book that you don't mind ripping the pages out of. I would suggest picking up one at the Dollar Tree. Read a few pages and make sure its not some literary classic you'll regret demolishing later.
plastic spiders

DIY Wreath Directions:
1. Tear a page out of the book and roll it in a method of your choosing. I prefer making a fold to front, fold to back "s" shape.
2. After rolling the page, apply some glue at the end of the roll and glue it to the wreath. Work your way from the bottom of the wreath up to the top, finishing one layer before moving to the next.
3. To fill in any spaces, you’ll simply roll a page, apply glue to the ends, and just stick it in the wreath. The filler pages don’t necessarily need to touch the wreath; they can stick to the pages already glued to the wreath if need be. Use the filler pages to fill in holes and add some height.

Hoping to get over to the pumpkin patch and get the rest of the porch dressed for fall.

I hope you make this! Please let me know if you do it!

CLASSIC LIVING {SOME FALL DECOR INSPIRATION}

Please forgive me for going on and on about FALL. And its still a week or so away??!!! I know I have a problem.  It really is my FAVORITE. Its the prelude to all of the really fun holidays and gives me a reason to spruce up the place. The house just feels so warm and full during this time of the year. Unfortunately, I will probably carryon like this AT LEAST until Halloween:-(

I've been busy pinning and tucking ideas away. We will certainly be going to the pumpkin patch and I'm really looking forward to taking the kiddos to the County Fair this year. I should be off of my (failed attempts) sugar fast and be able to indulge in a candied apple and a funnel cake or two.

AHHH!! Cant wait!!

In the mean time here is Some Fall Inspiration:

My Fall Porch Pinspiration.
Some cool ideas for pumpkin carving.
Five ways to make your pumpkins live longer.
Some of my favorite recipes to whip up here, here, and here.
This delicious memory still sticks out in my mind oh and this one too.

Do you  have any plans or traditions during this time of year?

Bunnie

i need pumpkins!!

hubby went to the notre dame game in chicago without me this weekend (hooray!!) and after we scooped him from the airport we all headed over to a little harvested pumpkin patch we've been going to for the last few years at a local church.

there were no pumpkins. so now i'm scouring the web for a patch that doesnt require me to drive a gazillion miles (sorry, i'm an intown girl..) especially until this little one learns how to chill in his car seat for more than 30 minutes..

and incidentally I ended up moving along in search of inspiration to dress up the front porch for fall and for halloween (with the aforementioned non-existent pumpkins).

goals:
easy breezy
doesnt require a gaziillion pumpkins
spooky sophisticate (i made that up).

here is some of what i came up with:

Updated Post: Somehow the pics got moved/removed:

Any plans to spruce up your front porch for fall? send me your pinterest board, I'd love to be nosy take a look!

xx,
Bunnie

p.s. please forgive my coding bloopers. learning in progress...

trick or treat pix are up!

Its been a fun pumpkin season so far.. we usually start things off by watching this a gazillion times.

which this year, proved to provide a brilliant bargaining tool as I threatened to make sure the munchkin got a bag of rocks this year, if she didn't behave herself (is that wrong?).. at any rate, it worked like a charm:)

So just  wanted to post some photos of the infamous spider girl:) Here she is with her bestie and the muse for her inspiration for this years costume.  Its amazing the difference a year makes.. they had no qualms about ringing door bells and asking for "tricks or treats" or as the munchkin calls it trickery treating!

of course to glam things up a bit, i had to put together a little spider girl headband for the occassion.

and since I'm in the spirit of posting pix that i'm excited about.. the love bug pix are out!! so i've been dying to get the folks over at our labor of love to do a little shoot with my munchkin and her lovie "CoCo."
If you've ever met the munchkin, you have no doubt met her best home girl CoCo whom she has had since she was in my womb thanks to our dear friends The Coles and our favorite little people shop The Seed Factory.

i snagged a couple of shots from their site, but see the full blog post here.

LOVE!

Now its on to figuring out what the heck I'm going to make for the bake sale on Saturday and planning for Thanksgiving.. It looks like the ball is in my court this year.

what happened?

its that time again!

every few years i'm able to pull off a pretty good costume. not sure this will be the year, but last year. that was pretty good if i may say so myself:)  a good friend of mine threw a little shin dig, and i left the hubby home while i partied like a real housewife of atlanta (pun intended)..

tee hee!

this year the focus will be on the munchkin... a friend of mine sent me this pic, and i had all sorts of plans to turn her into this:

adorable right?  not so fast...

and this is what she'd like to be. spider girl?! her bestie cole had on a spider man costume a few weeks ago when we went to visit and since then she's been adamant about being "spider girl" for halloween. i must admit, i wasnt even aware that there was a spider girl? i thought i was going to have to sew a skirt or tutu on a muscly (with muscles:) spider man costume, but lo and behold.. target has everything..

 done. and done.

how in the heck did that happen?!

gotta love her!

It's the Great Pumpkin

So, no pagan holiday would be complete without the wisdom Lucy, Linus, and Sally. Chuck has nothing wise, just complaints. Which may explain why I like him. Good Grief! We did the top five favorite quotes and here they are. (in no particular order)
"It was all your fault. I'll sue!" - Sally

"Never jump into a pile of leaves with a wet sucker." - Linus

"They'll never guess it's me under here..." - Pig Pen

"I went trick or treating and all I got was a bag of rocks." - Charlie Brown

" A person should choose a costume which is in direct contrast to her personality." - Lucy

It's always fun to laugh at the misgivings of animated characters. Linus takes the cake with his delusions of the Great Pumpkin.

Pagan Holidays...

Gotta love them.. I thought this was super cute. I think I'll try it next year. Hubby said it was nice but a little bit extra.. like the gold leaves on my current front porch display... He tried to persuade me to nix the gold leaves, but I thought they added character.. What does he know anyway...I'm sure no man even has a reason to even SAY gold leaves let alone decorate with them.. At any rate...

Toddler Time at the High... Little lumpkin was checking out the Leonardo Di Vinci write up..  We are loving out Orbit Toddler Stroller Seat.. It doubles as a high chair if you move the front bar out of the way.

Someone had way too much fun trying on Mommy's witch hat.. tee hee hee.. Only Bad witches are ugly:-)

Date Night!! Godmommy so graciously stayed with the little munchkin while we enjoyed a much overdo night out on the town at Cafe Circa.. the menu looked alot tastier than actuality.. We even got our groove on for a bit..  Dont we look SO GROWN UP!?

And Pagan Holidays would not be complete with out costumes!! Our little ladybug and her little pirate friend in the back.. Also daddy's knee.. Enjoying some great chicken chili compliments of Cathy.. Thanks!! Halloween Rocks!
